Criffel, sitting on the western horizon like a paused sunset, was our companion for much of this trail. This was a walk of several distinct sections each with its own challenges, joys, and emotions. The salt marshes were only one part of this day’s walk, but they worried me more than any other section when planning the route. I paid very close attention to the weather and tides, and had my escape routes planned but I was still not sure I would walk across them when we started walking that morning. I am pleased we did.
